| MyVoIPSpeed Server performs a broadband speed test as part of the connection performance analysis. The information below is provided in the speed test results. | |
| MYSPEED SERVER FEATURES | |
| BROADBAND SPEED TEST | |
| Download Speed Test • All editions |
Accurately measures download capacity by testing an actual data transfer from your server to the browser client. Accuracy benchmarks. |
| Upload Speed Test • All Editions |
Accurately measures upload capacity by testing
actual data transfer from the browser client to
your server. Upload speeds are normally signficantly lower than download speeds, as most users only upload small amounts of data in comparison to the amount of data they download. However, upload speeds are critical for applications such as VoIP, where data is traveling in both directions during a phone conversation. |
| Connection Quality Test (QOS) • All Editions |
The QOS reported is the maximum speed/minimum
speed, as is a measure of the consistency of download
capacity. A high QOS percentage indicates a high quality connection, which does not fluctuate significanly in its bandwidth capacity. Consistent bandwidth is a key factor in the performance of time-sensitive applications such as VoIP and Video over IP. More information. Read more on Why QOS matters. |
| Max Pause • All Editions |
Max Pause is the longest time period between
data transfers recorded during the download speed
test. The Max Pause should be a very small number. If not, it can indicate bandwidth throttling or other problem adversely affecting download performance. |
| Round Trip Time (RTT) • All Editions |
The Round Trip Time (RTT) reports the total time
in milliseconds (ms) to send a small data packet
and obtain a reply back. RTT is a key factor in rating connection performance, the faster (or smaller) the RTT, the better the connection. |
| Advanced Speed Test Statistics • Professional, NOC, Support Editions |
The Advanced Statistics report tab provides a summary of the above test results for each speed test, along with more detailed statistics including the download and upload test types (HTTP or socket), the average download pause, minimum and average round trip time. |
| NEW! Bandwidth Test Graph • Professional, NOC, Support Editions |
The bandwidth test graph appears as a tab in
the applet display and in the Report Detail. The graph shows how the connection speed varied during the download test, the higher the download speed, the better, but a good connection will also demonstrate very little fluctuation in download speeds. The graph also displays the TCP gaps, which is the time delay between data packets. A good connection will have a low TCP gap and demonstrate very little fluctuation in the TCP gap values. |
